This fall was very warm so far. It was very tempting to visit major trails around the DC area, but with COVID-19 on the rise, we were hesitant. Instead of major and well known trails it made sense to explore less known and therefore less used ones. Muddy Branch Greenway Trail is one of those. It is an 8 mile trail that goes roughly along Muddy Branch Creek from North Potomac all the way to Potomac, ending at Blockhouse Point Conservation Park.
The trail has no unusual vistas or grand outlooks, however, it is lovely with small streams to cross and little reflection pools. Overall, it is a pleasure to walk it.
I think that during the summer the trail looks plainer than in the fall.
The trail is quite long and has many access points. A good map of the the trail is available from the Montgomery Parks website.
