After our little adventure at Jungfraujoch, we took a train back and stopped at Kleine Scheidegg. We had less than half a day left before we had to go back down to Grindelwald, so we had time for a small hike (about 2 hours both ways). The obvious choice was to take the Panorama trail from Kleine Scheidegg to Männlichen. Usually people take this trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg because it is easier that way (less uphill walking), but we did not have time for that. We decided to take a walk as far as we could, not necessarily reaching Männlichen.
Before we started hiking, though, we encountered a little problem: we couldn’t find where the trailhead was. There are so many of the trails starting around Kleine Scheidegg that it makes it difficult to find the right direction immediately.
Finally, we were able to find the trail. Thanks to a small red sign on the sign post. The first part of the trail goes upward, but then it evens out and after that it is pretty even and not difficult at all. The views are good all the way, very panoramic as advertised, even if a little bit the same all the way. Perhaps we did not get far enough to where the views change. This panorama captures essentially all the views we saw.
Sometimes, the trail gets very close to the edge of the mountain, which is kind of thrilling.
We did not finish the trail because it was getting late and we wanted to be on time for train departure and allow some time for photo shooting. We took a few minutes rest on a bench at a rest area along the trail, and turned back towards Kleine Scheidegg.
