When Alex first heard that we were going to do an England road trip, he said, “I want to see the white cliffs.” I googled “white cliffs” and found the white cliffs of Dover. Most images of the Dover cliffs, however, included some kind of industrial surroundings, so I tried to discourage Alex from going to Dover. I kept saying, “They don’t look as impressive as in the movies.” He, on the other hand, insisted that the views are indeed impressive and even told me that he recently watched a movie that featured a view of picturesque cottages against the backdrop of white cliffs. So I started to search again — and found the exact view Alex described. But those were not the white cliffs of Dover. Those were Seven Sisters. Even better, as they were much closer to the area we were about to visit.
It’s hard to find words to describe the beauty of white chalk cliffs. Truly, each picture is worth a thousand words here. The only thing I can say is that they were the most picturesque site we saw on our England road trip.
